ABOUT MURPHY ST. RASPA CO.
Located in the old Valadez Grocery Store, the Murphy St. Raspa Company offers a blend of delicious treats for the palate and the eyes. Please enjoy gourmet ice cream, delicious raspas and more while shopping for Mexican folk and soaking in the charm of this very unique building.
Near the turn of the last century, Alpine Furniture Company occupied the structure. Then, Tomás Valadez moved his grocery store here, and for several decades, provided the south side with a place to get all of their meat, vegetables, and almost everything else. The store closed in the seventies and the building closed up with it.
Cristina and Victor Noriega bought and renovated the building, and opened the MSRC in 2008. We hope you’ll enjoy the building’s characteristic lean and the grocery store heirlooms such as the meat case and walk-in freezer, scale and original butcher block.
